speechless

All of Laura's friends--

I am writing this from the waiting room of the U of M surgery floor.

We have just been notified that Laura has received a new liver. They are wrapping her up now. The surgery was supposed to take anywhere from six to twelve hours, and the it barely took six. I'm not a doctor, but you couldn't ask for a smoother ride.

Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. We are not out of the woods yet, but this is nothing short of a miracle.

Beautiful Laura,

I have spent the last 24 hours drinking too much coffee, covered in goosebumps and overwhelmed with emotion. I cannot find the words to describe the moment that your surgeon walked through that door to inform us that your new liver was already hard at work. I have never been so excited to hear the word "bile". These past few days have made me realize that there really is something bigger at work in the universe. We all love you so much and are so happy for you. I cannot wait to see all that you will do with this new lease on life.

Much love,
Mary
